Celebrating our Volunteers
April 18 is National Volunteer Week

Volunteers are an important part of fulfilling our mission
to feed hungry people in our community. Every day they help to pick up and deliver
food to hungry children, seniors, and people struggling to make ends
meet in a tough economy. Their efforts improve the quality of life for people all over Hays County.
On Saturday, April 17, the Food Bank honored volunteers with a BBQ lunch and awards ceremony at First Christian Church in San Marcos. Volunteers with more than 50 hours were invited with a guest. Those with 100+ hours received the President's Volunteer Service Award and a beautiful American Eagle pin.
A total of thirty two volunteers and two groups were honored for hours donated in 2009. Lifetime Awards (4000+) were presented to Rob Roark and Nash Garza. Kathy Luckett was recognized as Board Member of the Year.
In 2009, volunteers donated over 13,000 hours to the Food Bank, the equivalent of more than six full time employees. Congratulations to all of our volunteers!
